2016 Island Regatta

The team hosted the first-ever Island Regatta on Saturday as teams from around the Northwest joined us for a 5,500m piece around the treacherous Lake Whatcom Island. Visiting teams included Pacific Lutheran University, University of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, University of Fraser Valley, local Whatcom Rowing Association juniors, and the WWU women’s team. We had to shorten up the course halfway through due to some stiff southerly winds but had a great day of competitive racing and some good socializing afterwards over warm beverages, pasta, and hamburgers.
